Spring 2025 newsletter for our tenants now out
Eight pages of news and information should be dropping through tenants’ letterboxes over the next few days.
For those of you who can’t wait, here’s the digital version of our spring 2025 newsletter.
On pages one and two you can catch up with energy efficiency works to more than half our Barnsbury Mews homes.
Barnsbury Mews is an award-winning estate built in the 1970s. The standard of design has endured but flaws in the construction were evident early on, notably toilets that some startled tenants found flushing hot water.
The retrofitting works, scheduled for completion this autumn, will bring the energy efficiency of all homes on the estate up to a minimum of EPC C.
Book your appointment with MLCS3’s surveyor
In other news, tenants are being urged to call surveyors MLCS3 to make an appointment that works best for you so the condition of your home can be professionally assessed.
We want every single home surveyed to give us a clear and comprehensive basis for planning improvements and other investment that will likely be needed over the next 30 years.
If you haven’t yet contacted MLCS3, call them now on 0800 8620 904 or email surveys@mlcs3.com
Islington’s rich history also features in this issue. Highbury View is busy planning an event to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Tenant board member Janice Walsh reminded us this may be the last VE Day for those who survived active service during World War II, making the occasion especially poignant.
If you have a war-time story or old family snaps or mementoes you’d like to share with others, or you’d like to help out on the day, please call Colette or Asif on 020 7704 2324 or email info@barnsbury.org
Late last year some of you also came forward to share your memories of life in Barnsbury past for a project with pupils at St Andrew’s and Thornhill primaries run by St Andrew’s church.
Your stories and those of other locals have been the inspiration for artworks by the children, to be exhibited at the Thornhill Square church from 7 to 12 April. The artworks will then go on display at Islington’s museum then its archive, from 22 April until 31 August.
Finally a quick reminder if we have organised a repair in your home for you recently, we always welcome your feedback and it could win you a £50 Love to Shop voucher.
